11th AGM of Adam Lindsay Gordon Commemorative Committee

On Sunday 24 September 2017, the Adam Lindsay Gordon Commermorative Committe held its Annual General Meeting, the 11th since inception. This year it was held at The Lane Restaurant, The George Hotel, Ballarat.

All current ordinary committee members were re-elected. Everyone was pleased to see President Allan Cilds and wife Jenny, despite recent illness, make the trip.

Secretary John Adams and his wife Elrae were thanked for their untiring efforts to maintain the grave of Adam Lindsay Gordon in Brighton, Melbourne, as well as attend to all other business of the committee.

After discussion of business, a pizza lunch was enjoyed by all. Special guests at the meeting were Carline and Karl Kelers, who travelled from WA. Carline is a descendant of Ignez Ratti (nee Gordon), Adam Lindsay Gordon’s sister.

After the meeting, Carline and Karl visited the house at 3 Dowling Street, believed to be the home of Adam LIndsay Gordon while he ran the stables for Craig’s Hotel in Ballarat. Karl found that the occupant was a fellow Latvian, who shared some past experiences.
