Admirers of Australia’s National Poet Adam Lindsay Gordon will gather on Saturday morning, 22 June 2019, to pay tribute at his statue in Gordon Reserve, Spring Street, Melbourne.
Devotees of the poet will meet at 10.30 am at Excello Cafe, 99 Spring Street, Melbourne (opposite Parliament House) for coffee, then at 11 am cross over to the Adam Lindsay Gordon statue. Organised by the Adam Lindsay Gordon Commemorative Committee Inc, this annual event is a chance for like-minded followers of the poet to pay tribute and lay wattle sprigs in remembrance of his death on 23 June 1870.
Committee member Lindsay Smelt will talk on his recent tour to the UK and Europe, visiting some sites relevant to the poet. Caption: Piper John Houghton at Spring St statue (Photo: Andrew Lutz)
